CLUB MEETINGS
What is EGo?
A club where we discuss all types of topics: environment, healthcare, animal rights – you name it! We discuss important ethical issues ranging from issues facing our personal lives (e.g., Is it ethical to copy homework or date your best friend’s ex-boyfriend?) to issues that affect the entire world (e.g., Is it ethical to use unmanned drones?).

What do you usually do during meetings?
Sometimes we break off into smaller groups, sometimes not, but we always regroup as one club and have a big discussion about whatever topic our board picks. See a schedule of past cases and future topics here. |
How do I join?
All you have to do is show up to Room 206 (the one across from the social studies center) ready to learn and talk! |
Executive Board
Elle Kaplan
President
President
Elle (like the letter) is a fourth year member of Ethics and Government and Ethics Bowl. She can be found attempting to find food that is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, soy free, nut free (basically everything free), hiding in the social studies center, or on a run while watching crash course videos. Elle especially loves discussing topics such as abortion rights and cancel culture. She checks her email 1,000,000 times a day so please feel free to reach out!
Shayla Zheng
Executive Board Member Shayla (SHAY-lah) is a fourth-year member of Ethics and Government and a second-year Ethics Bowl competitor. Her defining characteristic is how all her devices are constantly low or dead. When she has free time (rarely) or procrastinating (much more common), she watches YouTube and Money Heist. She also enjoys relaxing at home, especially without the burden of schoolwork. A topic that she’s especially passionate about is the unquestionable superiority of sugar over chocolate chip cookies. Unfortunately, that is a fact, not an opinion. She’s excited to meet new people, as long as they aren’t defending chocolate chip!

Andy Lin
Executive Board Member Meet Andy. He has been a part of the Ethics and Government for four years. He is always interested in pop culture, and if you have any questions or want to know current news regarding pop culture, he will get you caught in no time. Not only does he focus on pop culture, but he also always stays on top of political news from new bills/legislation passing or not passing in the House or the Senate to committee hearings regarding, for example, January 6th, gun safety, and domestic abuse. Aside from politics, he also loves to listen to music, and his favorite genres include pop, indie, alternative, and EDM. He has a whole stan list, but some of his favorite artists include Ariana Grande, Lana Del Rey, and Doja Cat. And his favorite albums include Sweetener, Hot Pink, and Chromatica. If you ever feel the need to argue with him about topics or just rant to him, you will always find him on Twitter retweeting tweets or debating other accounts and on Instagram tapping through stories or blocking accounts.

Sasha Berman
Executive Board Member Sasha is a third-year member of Ethics and Government! She is easily recognizable as the person with the weird hair taking a nap in the back of one of your classes. You can typically find her in the Social Studies Center waiting for one of her 5 million clubs to start. If you are ever curious about which clubs to join, she always has an array of which clubs are the best and which to avoid. In her free time, you can find her binge-watching one of her many shows most of which she never finishes(except for anything slightly scary because she likes to sleep at night even if it's already 4am). She is on her phone all the time so feel free to send an email and reach out at any time!

Yael Novak
Executive Board Member Yael (yah-elle) has been a member of EGo and the Ethics Bowl Team since the beginning of her freshman year. Outside of EGo, you can find Yael mathematically ranking Taylor Swift’s albums, watching ridiculous amounts of reality television, taking “it girl walks,” and spending time with her friends. When she’s not working, Yael loves discussing the ethical dilemmas she and her friends (and sometimes celebrities…) encounter in everyday life.
